A very large crowd enjoyed some excellent racing, where 42 horses contested the seven-race card in bright sunshine.  The going was testing, with many runners finishing tired.  There was a double for owner and trainer Clive Boultbee-Brooks in the final two races, both ridden by Tommie O'Brien.

The first leg of the double was aboard Racing Snake in the Level 3 Conditions in a head-bobbing finish, winning by a short-head from Huw Edwards on Mr Snuffles.  The pair had a great battle from two out and the result could have gone either way.  The winner had won his Restricted previously at Ffos Las and will be confined to points this season. The valiant runner-up ran his best race for some time and should have his turn soon.

In the concluding Restricted, Felicie du Maquis was held up, joined Willewonga after three out and ran on strongly from the last to win by twenty lengths.  The seven-year-old mare followed up on her Chaddesley Corbett Maiden win and looks a decent prospect.

There was an exciting race for the Mixed Open where Ben Bromley on Compete Sizing won by three parts of a length and a head from Staple Head and Duke Arcadio. The winner who had previously finished third in a hot race at Chaddesley Corbett to Premier Magic and Porlock Bay, is trained by Phil Rowley.  The ten-year-old gelding had won an Irish hunter chase for Jim Dreaper and was acquired privately by Angela Sykes and Jonathan Lee.

The Lorna Brooke Ladies was won easily by Izzy Marshall on Golden Tobouggan, having his first win for a couple of seasons.  The trainer Julie Wadland will target him for the Aintree Foxhunters.

In the opening four and five-year-old bumper, Ben Bromley made most of the running on Kallow Point, but Toby Wynne on Casa No Mento stayed on strongly to beat him by five lengths. The four-year-old filly is trained by Bradley Gibbs and owned by Ratkathca Racing.  The four-year-old filly was bought at Tatteresalls last summer.

Bradley was unable to do the weight to ride the bumper winner, but he had quick compensation aboard Rocambolas in the following Maiden.  He took up the running before the straight and was challenged all the way by Toby Wynne on Rebel MC, with the latter falling at the last.  The winning five-year-old is trained by Bradley's fiancé Claire Sherriff and was acquired for £1,800 for her father Julian at the recent Doncaster sales, having been previously trained Evan Williams for William Rucker.

In the PPORA Novice and Veteran Riders race, Murray Dodd has his third winner of the season aboard Ellipsism with an easy win from In Arrears.  The winner is trained by James Ridley and had previously won a couple of Irish handicap hurdles for Joseph O'Brien.
