THE Warwickshire are set to celebrate the achievements of their Aintree heroes at their meeting at Mollington, near Banbury, on Bank Holiday Monday.

Organisers are hopeful that owner Robert Waley-Cohen, from nearby Edgehill, and his now-retired jockey-son, Sam, will be putting the Randox Grand National trophy on show following their fairytale triumph with Noble Yeats.

At the same time, Latenightpass is due to be paraded by owner-breeder Pippa Ellis after his thrilling victory in the Randox Foxhunters' Chase with the trophy also on display.

Ellis's son, Tom, who trains Latenightpass at Marton, near Rugby, with his jockey-wife, Gina Andrews, said: "It's quite a special thing to have two winners at that meeting coming out of that hunt. It's a great achievement for everyone."

The two successful Aintree teams could take each other on in the Butler Sherborn Warwickshire Hunt Members, Subscribers & Farmers Race.

Waley-Cohen has two of the seven entries in Maitree Express, with Alice Stevens booked to ride for his Upton Viva Stud stables, and Igor.

Maitree Express won the conditions race here 12 months ago and was fourth to Ami Desbois in a Newbury hunters' chase last month, while Igor captured the Lady Dudley Cup at Chaddesley Corbett two weeks ago.

Ellis also has two entries in Dundrum Wood and Young Rich - although the pair may feature elsewhere on the seven-race card, which gets under way at 2pm.

The champion trainer said: "Dundrum Wood will either run in that or the open. Shona Westrope (owner) does an awful lot for the Warwickshire point-to-point, and it would be lovely for her to have a horse run well."

Dundrum Wood reeled off a hat-trick this season, before finding Caryto des Brosses eight lengths too good here earlier this month.

"He lost nothing in defeat," said Ellis. "I rate him quite highly. He is a work in progress and can win a nice pot at some point."

Clerk of the course Fred Hutsby has entered Zamani, who gave his son, Jack, a good spin on his first ride when second to Longhouse Sale at Kimble, here and in the opening conditions race. "I am tempted to go in the two-and-a-half miler," he said. "He has never run over three miles and it is a red-hot members' race."

Francesca Poste's Paxford runner-up, Largy Mountain, and Golden Tobouggan, third to Kaproyle at Chaddesley Corbett for Julie Wadland, complete the line-up.

Hutsby reported that the bends and fences have been moved in since the last meeting to provide fresh ground. Watering started on Monday, with the aim of maintaining the going on the easy side of Good.

The fixture has attracted 97 entries with 14 in the Ray Randerson Carpets Mixed Open.

If Dundrum Wood lines up here, the eight-year-old could face Just Cause, who is chasing a four-timer for James Owen, and Hannah Clarke's hat-trick seeker, Who's My Jockey.

Virak, Captain Buck's, Rhythm Is A Dancer and Rebel Dawn Rising would all come into the reckoning, while Valtor - winner of the 2018 Silver Cup at Ascot - is an interesting entry for owner Anthony Bromley and his jockey-son, Ben.

Alan Hill has entered Hawkhurst and Tidal Flow, but he reported the former is an unlikely starter with a 7lb penalty.

Ellis is hoping Wounded Warrior can bounce back in the FN Pile PPORA Club Members Conditions (Level 3) Veteran & Novice Riders Race after finishing fourth at Dingley.

"He didn't face the blinkers," he explained. "I'll take them off. Whether I put cheekpieces on him I have not decided. He is a hard horse to win on. Ellie (Callwood) managed to do it, and hopefully she could do it again."

Last year's winner, Brown Bear, is back to bid for a repeat under Fleur Worsley, while the Venetia Williams-trained Tango de Juilley, second to Dubai Quest at Chaddesley Corbett, is the highest-rated horse on the card.

Hill plans to run Kimble second Craigmor, saying: "He ran very well that day, but if they turn up with Tango we will only be playing for minor honours."

The Devils Drop, who scored at Andoversford for Poste, is another to consider along with Sarah Ashby's Penshurst runner-up Monkey Puzzle.

Ellis believes having Andrews back on board King Of The Clothe can see the 10-year-old put up a bold show in the Retraining of Racehorses & Jockey Club Veteran Horse Conditions (Level 2) Race.

The pair struck at High Easter in March, before the son of Milan finished fourth in a novice riders' race at Edgcote.

Ellis said: "Gina is the key to him. He needs his mind making up and she is the most capable of doing that."

Earlshill looks a leading player for Sarah Burton after finishing second to Kaproyale at Edgcote, while Valtor and Monkey Puzzle are also entered here.

Megan Saunders is set to have her first ride on Young Rich for Ellis in the Sir James Shuckburgh Restricted over 2m 4f.

The trainer said: "As long they come back in one piece, and she has with a smile on her face I'll be happy. She works hard and it's good to give her an opportunity."

Hill feels Kingston Blount winner Mythical Prince can outperform his rating of 83.

"Da Boy Charlie, who was second to him, won well at Kimble," he said. "I think he is underrated, and I would hope he would run better than his rating."

Mystic Man could bid to follow up his easy Barbury win for Phil Rowley, while Michael Kehoe's Fakenham runner-up Allo Allo also comes into the reckoning.

Ellis is likely to rely on Loughan in the opening HFN Landscapes Conditions (Level 2) Race over 2m 4f rather than Misstree Song.

The seven-year-old was third to Fier Jaguen here earlier this month, and the Marton handler said: "He is going to need to improve again, but he ran well over course and distance last time."

ITV Racing pundit Luke Harvey has the top-rated entry in Spanish Jump, who was second to Kaproyale at Chaddesley Corbett, while Drumlee Getaway holds claims for Poste following his second to Vango De Vaige at Bitterley.

Marcus Foley is set to saddle his first runner for eight years when the unraced Colwell Bay lines up in the Newbury Commercial Glazing PPORA Club Members Maiden over 2m 4f.

Ellis believes his debutant Play With Risk will benefit from the experience, saying: "I would be surprised if he wins, but stranger things have happened."

Poste has the choice of two unraced Kayf Tara four-year-olds in the gelding Nimming Ned and the filly La Gomera.

Lift Me Up showed promise for Sarah Case when second to Far From Over at Larkhill, while Finest Hour was fourth for Willy Twiston-Davies in a Maisemore Park bumper.

Hill is looking forward to running Irish import Our Brother John for a new syndicate, headed by his son Joe, and made up of Greg King, Alex Youell and Conor Youell.

He said: "They went to Kimble on Easter Saturday and enjoyed it so much they wanted to get involved. He is a nice big horse. From what Joe has seen of him in Ireland he wants quicker ground."

There will be a parade of hounds between races three and four. Admission is £15 per person on the day and under 16s go free. Mollington is on the A423, five miles north of Banbury. Postcode OX17 1QE
