Kivells sponsor the Mixed Open race which is the feature of the day at the North Cornwall meeting, to be held at the Royal Cornwall show ground, this coming Sunday 9th January. Entries include Sykes for the Nicola Martin team, being the highest rated, could follow-up on their win here at the December meeting under jockey Darren Edwards. Sir Mangan’s connections, the Alan Hill team, will be looking to reverse the form and get home ahead if travelling here, having had to settle for one-and a half-length second to Sykes that day under jockey Ben Sutton. On Sir Mangan’s previous form of five wins last season, this should be an exciting battle. Quite By Chance (Stuart Sampson) is also a strong contender having won the Ladies race here at the December meeting under Lauren Reed. Another lady jockey who could figure here is Natalie Parker on FuFu for the Sally Alner team, should go well on previous decent hurdle form.

The day opens at 11.30am with the Moores of St Wenn-sponsored Members race. Here we could see either of the Dean Summersby entries Port 0’Clock score for Darren Edwards, or Cloudy Music for stable star Charlotte Summersby, who could repeat the success of winning her maiden at this track if coming out fresh.

Roy Davies Food sponsor the Novice Riders race in which jockey Lauren Reed could get a nice tune out of the John Heard-trained Eric The Third, having won at Trebudannon last season and enjoyed a trip around Cheltenham finishing fifth. Broadclyst for the Les Jefford team won both his Maiden and Restricted race here and is another who should go well.

In the Maiden race for four, five and six-year-olds which is sponsored by Heltor, Ribo A Rep and Hillbilly Filly will be flying the flag for the Ed Walker team, who enjoyed saddling a maiden winner at last week’s Larkhill meeting, under stable jockey Chloe Emsley. They will need to fight off the challenge from the promising young horse from the Summersby’s yard Transition Period. Having only been beaten by a head at this track in December under jockey Darren Edwards, connections will be looking for this six-year old gelding to progress soon.

Fountains Chief looks an interesting contender in the Nash and Ferguson-sponsored Restricted race, who could fight out the finish up the steep hill with recent Pyle maiden winner Bucaneros for team Hill, if the yard makes the journey down to this track.

Finally up is the Tregawne Holiday Cottages-sponsored Maiden race for seven year-old and upwards, in which Ask The Lady could be another winner for team Summersby if taking to fences after her promising hurdle form. Cuzzicombe (Ed Walker) could follow up on the third place achieved at Bratton Down last season, and Wise Garden (Danielle Kenealy) is another promising young mare who could make the most of her weight allowance, and improve on her fourth place at the December meeting here, with young jockey Charlie Sprake aboard.

This track offers fabulous track-side viewing, a large covered barn containing all on course facilities such as hot food, drinks, bar, bookies and trade stands. Entrance to the course is £12 per person cash only. Children under 16 free. Location is off A39 at the Royal Cornwall Showground,  Wadebridge . Live streaming is available PL27 7JE at pointingdc.eventbrite.com
